Lisbon Vegan Restaurants

As a mostly veggie-sometimes-fish-occasionally-poultry eater, I appreciate well-made and executed vegan dishes frequently. I have often found that vegan restaurants back home, and many places around the world are more expensive than their carnivore-friendly counterparts, but Lisbon has some really affordable veggie options.

Happy Cow has just named Lisbon amongst the Top 10 Vegan Cities in the World.

Vegan Junkies

Guilt-Free Comfort Food. Cause at vegan junkies , everyday is cheat day.

Cute little cantina serving delicious vegan burgers, tacos, nachos and other meat-free yums. This cozy restaurant with a funky/fun vibe has limited indoor seating, so if you want to guarantee a seat inside for dinner, reservations are encouraged.

Veganeats Caffe

🗺️R. Cavaleiro de Oliveira 42, 1170-088 Lisboa

🕰️Mon-Fri 10a-5p, Sat 10a-3:30p, Sun - closed

💶€–€€ (cash only)

🌐Veganeat Caffe

With the sweetest owners, warm and cozy space, and absolutely delicious food, Veganeats Caffe has quickly become one of my favorite lunch spots. With a very limited, but satisfying menu, it is easy to come in and just trust the process, especially when the lunch special is only 6€ for small plate and 8€ for a large. For those looking for something simple, a bowl of soup with a side of bread will only cost you about 3€ and a light snack of a delicious sweet or savory pastry is readily available.

Granos Espaço Vegetariano

🗺️R. Saraiva de Carvalho 358 r/c esq, 1350-304 Lisboa

🕰️Mon-Fri 7:30a-6p, Sat 9a-4p, Sun - closed

💶€–€€

Stumbling upon this beautiful restaurant was a very happy accident. Don’t blink, or you will miss the entrance (which is down a short alleyway). The owner is kind and welcoming and accommodating when you cannot decide on which of the two lunch entrees of the day you want. For daily entrees, refer to Granos Espaço Vegetariano’s Instagram page (linked above).

Organi Chiado

🗺️Calçada Nova de São Francisco 2, 1200-300 Lisboa, Portugal

🕰️Daily 12p-11p

💶€–€€

🌐Organi

All our products are chosen carefully, with high quality and natural ingredients, from local and reliable producers, mostly organic and with no animal product or ingredient. All of our food and dessert are sugar free. Our menus are diversified respecting the environment and in consonance with the season.

Organi Chiado features a small menu, to assure a fresh daily menu, but still has plenty of delicious options to choose from. Everything available sounded delicious and as much as I loved my vegan Brazilian stew, I had plate envy of everything that passed me. The portion sizes are very generous, prices are affordable, quality is top notch, and service is excellent. Organi is an overall great experience from every angle.

🌐Cheeky Leeks

We were born with the main objective of offering healthy and fast meals, respecting the environment and promoting nutrient-rich food for your daily life. We unite the best in veggie cuisine, creating healthy and tasty options for those who have an intense routine, but do not give up eating well!

My lunch here was so, so good. Everything was super fresh and delicious and the space is warm and inviting. I went for a burger, but then found so many yummy options on the menu, I was swayed away by the jackfruit wrap… and had no regrets.

Plant Base

🗺️R. da Oliveira ao Carmo 9, 1200-307 Lisboa

💶€€

🕰️Mon-Fri 12:30p-11p, Sat 12p-11:30p, Sun 12p-11p

🌐Plant Base Lisboa

This cute little vegan restaurant feels like a green oasis in the middle of the city and serves up a classic “bar” menu of pizzas, burger, tacos, and nachos. The burgers are delicious and come with a solid serving of fries and, after peeping the tacos at the table next to me, I can assure you will not leave hungry.

Kong - Food Made With Compassion

🗺️Rua do Corpo Santo 2, 1200-129 Lisboa

🕰️Mon-Sat 12p-11p, Sunday closed

💵€€

🌐Kong Vegan

Kong Vegan is tucked away on a little side street, just passed Pink Street. The unassuming entry leads one to expect a small, homey, restaurant, but once you get to the top of the stairs, the space opens in to a large, beautiful, modern, chic space.

The service was kind and friendly and the menu had some really great options, but I went with the vegan twist on a Portuguese favorite and got the Francesinha, which did not disappoint.

Ao 26 Vegan Food Project

🗺️R. Horta Seca 5, 1200-213 Lisboa

🕰️Daily 12:30-6p, 7p-11p

💶€€

🌐Ao 26

After several failed attempts to go to Ao 26 for dinner (without reservations) I walked by on a random midafternoon and was able to enjoy lunch in a near-empty restaurant. The service was incredible, that setting is beautiful, the sangria was tasty, and the food was an absolute meat-free treat. Absolutely recommend for anyone seeking a great vegan meal in an elevated setting.

Botanical Den

🗺️R. da Atalaia 153, 1200-039 Lisboa

💶€–€€

🕰️Mon-Wed 7p-1a, Thurs-Sat 7p-1:30a, Sunday - closed

🥬Vegan - Cocktails and Snacks

Awesome little bar with a really cool vibe.  Live music many nights of the week.  Signature cocktails and amazing vegan burgers and snacks. Located in Bairro Alto, The Botanical Den is a great sport to grab a cocktail and bite before starting a night out.

This spot gets busy, for good reason.

Veganapati

🗺️R. das Portas de Santo Antão 22, 1150-114 Lisboa

🕰️Daily 12p-10:30pm

💶€–€€

🌐Veganapati

I will be honest, I was hesitant to go to Veganapati due to its location along a very touristic street, but I am so glad I finally went because it was delicious. It is a cute little oasis in a sea of touristic restaurants. The menu is a bit eclectic featuring everything from ramen to tacos to burgers, and a lot in between, so there is something for every veggie lover. I had warm and friendly service and would happily return.

Vegan Nata

🗺️3 locations: Rua 4 de Infantaria 29B, 1300-135 Lisboa Portugal, R. da Misericórdia 9, 1200-208 Lisboa Portugal, Av. Cruzeiro Seixas 5/7, Praça Central, The Hood R8, 2650-504 Amadora Portugal

🕰️Daily 9a-7p

🌐Vegannata Portugal – The Pastel de Nata that is the same, but Vegan

The Pastel de Nata which is the same, but Vegan

Think being vegan (or egg or dairy free) means you need to miss out on the world renowned pastel de nata? Think again! Vegan Nata offers a fantastic option for vegan and non-dairy folks. I have done my fair share of pastel de nata sampling and, compared to the real deal, Vegan nata comes very close to some of the best.
