Sun, Sand & a Backpack: The Perfect Packing List for 2 Months of Warm-Weather Adventures!
Packing can be the most stressful part of any trip, especially a lengthy trip, especially a lengthy trip including multiple flights, shuttles, buses, ferries, hostels, hotels, villas, and even a tent.
Add in being quite tall, not slim (US XL), and standing on size 42.5 (US women’s 10.5) feet and it is a bit extra challenging.
After almost three years of continuous travel, packing has been a lot of trial and error and tweaking what works best for me and each trip.
My goals for this trip were to pack light, while still having options for multiple activities and settings, and to make sure I have enough that I wouldn’t be scrambling for laundry every few days or have to wash my undies in the sink.
My criteria for packing any piece is that it must be comfortable and multiple purpose. No “special” occasion or “maybe” pieces…. we are cutthroat over here.
I wanted to keep my pack under 30lbs (approx 13.5kg) because I knew I would be carrying it, lifting it, and getting it on and off transit myself. I wanted to keep my day pack as light as possible.
Three weeks into my trip, I am happy with all my choices so far and have been managing everything fairly easily.
Could I have brought less? Yes. Could I have brought more? Also yes.
This can easily be adapted for a shorter trip or to go even lighter.
